Coptic Stitched Zine

The curls in my hair have been apart of me for as long as I can remember, as for art I’ve learned to have a certain appreciation for it. Combining two of my favorite things together in this project was extremely fun. Teaching people about different hair types and patterns at the same time was probably the best part. I hope I will be able to combine art and different parts of me in projects more often!

Dry Point Etching

In my etching the lines are not straight or neat, they're jagged and messy. Kinda like the streets of Chicago that I've seen. No, this isn't a picture of those streets, but what would Chicago be without them?

Self Portrait Linocut

My project was a little messy especially the prints, but I think it came out well. My prints are my favorite colors along with the pictures being one of my favorites, so I really liked this project overall. Im also glad I didn't stab myself with the carving tools.

Silkscreen Printing

My inspirartion for this project was basically myself in a way? Before getting box braids I'd always wear my hair in two puffs. I would've liked to make the design better and add more details and such, but my group didn't like my ideas too much. But its fine, I'm happy with how it came out. I think the cobwebs really complimented the 'spooky' and halloween theme I was originally going for.

Monoprint

For my monoprint i used a split complimentary color scheme with the colors yellow, red-violet, and blue-violet. These are some of my favorite colors and the pieces I chose represent one of my favorite things; the ocean. Even though my monoprint didnt come out perfect i still like it and think it was fun and a cool learning experience maybe next time i'll be able to do it right!

Block Print

My block was just a flower followed by added in details. It's probably one of my favorite projects we've did all quarter because the block was so easy to carve and was very calming to do. I used purple and blue mixed together to ink it. I think it came out pretty good and I really like it.
